ΕΚΟΜΕ at the 61st Thessaloniki International Film Festival

EKOME once again actively supported the 61st Thessaloniki International Film Festival (5-15 November 2020), which took place online under the motto “Cinema, no matter what”.

And if, during this strange period for the cinema, the magic of the dark halls of the Festival and the cinephile encounters in Warehouse C were missed, this was not the case neither for the beautiful films, with more than 80,000 views, nor the digital meetings with the professionals of the Market.

The main reference point for EKOME was, once more, the Festival Market that took place from 6 to 14 November with a large turnout of professionals from around the globe. In particular, the two webinars in the Agora Talks section, implemented with the support of EKOME, were a central issue of discussion on developments in the global audiovisual industry during the pandemic conditions.

EKOME supported the online debate on the landscape of film co-productions in Europe following the outbreak of the pandemic organised by the European Women’s Audiovisual Network (EWA).

Moreover, being aware of all filmmakers’ need to promote their work in the international film market, ΕΚΟΜΕ supported the online discussion  «Introduction in Film Marketing». Christina Pelekani, specialist in marketing issues, introduced the participants to film marketing, presenting ways to achieve film promotion.

It was with great pleasure we watched online the six films (Digger, Apples, Tailor, Green Sea, All the pretty little horses and Ballad of the pierced heart) supported by the cash rebate program by EKOME, three of which were presented with awards.

You may find the full list of awards here.

In these turbulent times, let the love for innovation, creativity and cinema become our anchor. Let us stay safe and meet in person at the next Thessaloniki Festival in 2021!
