With the joint presence of EΚOME and the Greek Film Centre, Greece has a dynamic presence in this year’s long-awaited 74th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival and Marché du Film, with a National Pavilion that will open from 6 to 17 July 2021.
This joint presence of EΚOME-GFC, proof of the strategic cooperation of the two institutions for an assertive national representation at major international Festivals and Markets, aims not only at the more effective promotion of Greek cinematography but, above all, at further highlighting the comparative advantages of Greece in attracting international audiovisual producers.
The 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival and the Marché du Film, with screenings, official premieres, numerous business meetings and many other events, offer new perspectives on audiovisual production and set the tone for what follows in film production.
EKOME, taking advantage of the dynamic incentives to attract audiovisual producers, will appeal to market professionals to promote their operation. The investment incentives programmes, namely the 40% Cash Rebate, the 30% Tax Relief and the operation of the National Film Offices Network are already recording impressive results as they have attracted high-end international productions in Greece while supporting the domestic audiovisual community, which is constantly flourishing.
Representatives of EKOME, led by President and CEO Panos Kouanis, will have a daily presence in the Festival Market, through the security protocols provided by the organizers, in meetings with film industry professionals from all over the world, discussions and presentations, with the aim of promoting Greece as an up-and-coming filming destination that offers competitive advantages and exceptional level production services and health security.
EKOME supports projects funded by the cash rebate programme and selected by the Thessaloniki Film Festival in collaboration with the Greek Film Centre, as part of the action “Thessaloniki Goes to Cannes”, in which film industry professionals, festival representatives, producers and distributors will be able to watch 5 selected films of promising Greek filmmakers, Monday, July 12th.
