EKOME and the Hellenic Film Commission of the Greek Film Centre, successfully joined London’s digital FOCUS 2020 on December 15-17, in a three-day online event, full of presentations, networking events, industry panels, and online meetings, promoting audiovisual projects in Greece to industry professionals and the public, from around the globe!
In this year’s event, with hundreds of participating companies and delegates, Greece was present in a series of digital events and networking opportunities designed by TLG FOCUS. Professionals and the public were able to interact with representatives from EKOME and the Hellenic Film Commission and learn more about the implementation of the Greek cash rebate (40%) and tax relief (30%) attractive investment incentives for audiovisual works production, including how Greece supports international audiovisual productions planning to film in Greece in the context of the current pandemic, by providing information, advice, and guidance.
The panel discussion by the title “Filming in Greece against all odds”, presented by the Greek delegation on December 16, focused on the current filming environment in Greece with testimonies of the representatives of two high profile international productions recently shot in the country. Moderated by Variety correspondent Christopher Vourlias, Vasiliki Diagouma, Head of Communication and Int’l Relations at EKOME and Venia Vergou, Director of the Hellenic Film Commission, discussed with Kostas Kefalas, producer of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Lost Daughter” and Erik Hemmendorff, producer of Ruben Östlund’s “Triangle of Sadness”, which successfully wrapped filming in Greece in November 2020.
We are very happy to have participated in this year’s digital event and look forward to our participation in 2021, anticipating an even more creative and productive, hopefully physical, presence!
